The Slovak Textile Artists Association TXT announces the topic of the 19th International Minitextile Exhibition:

NEARBY-FARAWAY

The TXT organization invites all textile artists and art students to submit works to the small format juried exhibition on the topic NEARBY-FARAWAY.

This phrase is not only a geographical term, but also a relative distance of our knowledge. The media provide detailed information about the people and the countries thousands of kilometres far away, conveying proximity, but do we really know them? And conversely, we sometimes perceive other, frequently well-known objects or situations from a distance because we do not want to accept them. It is a way of communicating despite distances and differences, it reflects a deep interest in exploring, and openly accepting the unknown ...

Our ambition is to examine the theme and break the inner barriers.

Criteria:

We expect to see subjective and clear interpretations of the topic.
The aim of this year’s exhibition is to emphasise the starting points of textile miniatures – textile techniques and materials. We therefore expect to evaluate the objects that will respect the criteria of a textile work of art.
Overlaps with other disciplines as well as combinations of textile and non-textile materials are accepted providing they will enrich the creative aspiration of artists.
A maximum of three art works per person may be entered.
The artworks must not exceed 20x20x20cm. The artworks must not include a special construction or frame.

The weight of the package must not exceed 2 kg.

Artists selected to take part in the exhibition will be requested to pay an admission fee of 30 €, students 20 €. Each participant will receive a free catalogue.

During the opening ceremony the jury will announce the three artists awarded with the Jury Award for Professionals, the Jury Award for Students and the TXT Association Award. Artworks awarded a prize will be published in the catalogue and their authors will have the opportunity to give a solo show next year.
